フェイクドキュメンタリー「ベイスメント」
フェイクドキュメンタリー「Q」による『BASEMENT』は、Jホラーの伝統的な「湿り気のある恐怖」と、 デジタル時代の「記録の不気味さ」を融合させたモキュメンタリー（擬似ドキュメンタリー）の傑作だ。本作が観客を心底震え上がらせる理由は、「何が起きているのかを最後まで明かさない」という徹底した不親切さと、リアリティの構築にある。
まず、特筆すべきは映像の「質感」だ。
2015年の出来事として提示されるホームビデオ映像は、画角の狭さや手ブレ、そして「記録者の視点」に徹したカメラワークにより、 観客に「見てはいけないものを見ている」という背徳的な臨場感を与える。
批評家的に見れば、本作は物語を説明するための映像ではなく、「ただそこに残されていた現象」を提示することで、現実と虚構の境界を無効化している。
物語の核心は、わずか4分間の間に女性が「この世から消失した」という事実にある。
地下室という、閉鎖的で、かつ「地上（日常）」から一歩隔絶された空間。
そこで繰り返される日常的な動作が、突如として理解不能な怪異へと反転する。
直接的な怪異の姿を鮮明に見せるのではなく、音や、画面の端に映り込む僅かな違和感、 そして「そこにいるはずの人間がいなくなる」という空虚そのものを恐怖の対象としている点が極めて洗練されている。
「フェイクドキュメンタリーQ」シリーズは、 その名の通りフェイクドキュメンタリー作品をリリースしているが、 １０分という尺で恐怖が成立している本作からエントリーするのをおすすめしておく。
