ホラー小説・映画の設計方法
ホラー小説・映画は、作り手の意図した順番によって進行するため、受けては完全に受動的となる。 映像の場合は時間軸自体も作りてが完全に支配できる。今までホラーの脅威の源によってその怖さの根源が変わってくることを指摘してきた。
例えばサイコパスであれば、相手が人間であるにもかかわらず、その思考回路や認知は一般的な人間とは異なる。
そこに本質的な恐怖を演出する余地が生まれてくる。
とはいえ、怖さをどこに置くかは、作り手の狙いや意図によって変わっていいことはきちんと指摘しておきたい。
例えばサイコパス物であっても、理解というよりは、相手がどのような残忍な手段をとるかにフォーカスされていても問題はない。。
例えば「SAW」シリーズを例に挙げると、わかりやすいだろう。 ここでは、ジグソーと分かり合うことは不可能であることは明白である。
むしろ、彼がどのようなゲームを仕掛け、それを回避できるのかどうかがストーリーをひっぱっていくことになる。
今まで述べてきたことは、脅威によってどこに怖さを演出する狙い目があるか、ということでしかない。
優れた作家であれば、自分が感じる「怖さ」の表現を追求するだけで、質の高い怖さを表現できるのであろう。
