Haruichi Furudate, born on February 19, 1980, is a manga artist best known for Haikyu!!, a coming-of-age ensemble drama centered on volleyball, which has surpassed 50 million copies in circulation and gained worldwide popularity through its anime and stage adaptations.
He played as a middle blocker in his junior high and high school volleyball teams. While working as an office employee, he continued creating manga, winning an honorable mention in 2005 for King Kid. After making his debut in 2009 with Asobiba., he went on to serialize Kiben Gakuha, Yotsuya-sensei no Kaidan. In 2012, he began Haikyu!! in Weekly Shonen Jump, completing the series in 2020 with a total of 45 volumes.
